AskMen today announced 11th annual list of the "Top 99 Most Desirable Women". Readers around the world cast over five million votes to rank women across the categories of marriage material, mistress material, arty and eclectic, nurturing and mature, and next generation beauties to find the qualities that make the "Most Desirable Woman".

Contrary to popular belief, age and desirability have little in common as 'Modern Family' star, Sofia Vergara beats out Hollywood's youngest ladies and has been named the #1 Most Desirable Woman in 2012. But hey, when you look like Sofia, it's hardly a surprise, right?

Australian model Miranda Kerr again takes out the top Australian ranking at #4 and Jessica Gomes enters the list for the first time at an impressive #34.

A year on from the birth of her first child, Miranda Kerr's appeal continues to resonate with men, not only moving up another spot to number #4, but being one of only three women to remain in the top ten, the others being Sofia Vergara (#1) and Scarlett Johanson (#7).

The surprise in this year's list is the emergence of geek chic over the next generation beauties with 22 women who may be considered the 'thinking man's woman" capturing the attention of our AskMen readers, while only 16 'IT' girls made this year's list.

Age continues to prove no barrier to perceived attractiveness with over 36 women on the list 30 years and over, one of whom is the stunning Sophia Vergara at #1 who turns 40 later this year. She is in rather good company with the oldest nominee Demi Moore (#80) looking great for 49 and a glowing Jennifer Lopez closely following at aged 42 (#93).

Whilst the average age of nominees was 28, the youngest age of a most desirable was 19 which was shared by the very popular Kate Upton (#2) and tween-star turned young woman Selena Gomez (#14). The varying ages of the nominees proves there really is no age barrier when it comes to beauty and sex appeal.

There is also an obvious theme which connects desirability and accessibility with Kate Upton (#2), Nicki Minaj (#5), Sofia Vergara (#1), Kim Kardashian (#8), Rihanna (#7) all extremely accessible through social media or through the information they are willing to share through the media.
