Despite being alive and well, it appears that Bindi Irwin, the daughter of late environmentalist Steve Irwin, was the subject of a death hoax this weekend. So just how did it happen?

We spied this little beauty doing the social media rounds this afternoon after Today host Lisa Wilkinson tweeted the picture of Bindi taken from Woman's Day magazine.

Bindi first came into the Aussie (and international) public eye as her dad Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin's animal-loving sidekick.

When Steve passed away nearly six years ago after a sting-ray attack (we can't believe it's been that long either), Bindi became the face of her father's international and iconic animal empire. She also captured hearts around the world with her eulogy at his memorial service, watched by over 300 million people worldwide.

And now, just weeks away from her 14th birthday, Bindi is ready to hit Aussie screens again, this time starring in Bindi's Bootcamp, a new program for ABC3 which begins airing this Saturday.

Despite Bindi's obvious maturity and gorgeous looks, she has put to rest any dating rumours for the time being, telling the mag: "Well, I have friends that are girls and friends that are boys - why complicate things? I'll wait a couple of years for that."

We have a feeling her mother Terri will be pretty happy about that.
