The Mad Men Cast Remembers Their Last Day on Set

With the series finale airing this Sunday in the US, Yahoo TV asked the stars of AMC's Emmy-winning drama to tell us about their last day of shooting — and it was tough on all of them.

As Christina Hendricks (Joan) puts it, "it was like going through a breakup for 20 hours... but with people that you still loved. You didn't want to break up with them."

Even after each actor was finished shooting, Jay R. Ferguson (Stan) remembers, they still showed up on set to watch their fellow cast members film their final scenes.

"We were all just going to work every day," Ferguson says. "Whether we were needed or not, just to be there in those last few fleeting moments before the curtain was dropped and the lights were shut off."

Jon Hamm (Don) remembers shooting his final scenes even as the familiar halls of Sterling Cooper & Partners were being torn down around him.

Hamm told Yahoo TV: "People are breaking down sets, and you're kind of opening the wrong door and going, 'Oh my God, the office is gone.' This is weird." (Peggy and Roger can relate!)

But Hamm tries to put a positive spin on a very sad day for TV fans.

"At the same time, it was a weirdly pleasant day, because there's happiness in finality; there's happiness in saying goodbye as well."

Yeah, sorry… even Don Draper can't sell us on that one.
