Mama June Sheds 27 Kilos, Becomes 'Baywatch' Babe

Here comes the new and improved Mama June!

Former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Mama June Shannon did her best Baywatch tribute while showing off her slimmed-down physique Wednesday on the beach in Panama City, Florida. The 35-year-old has reportedly dropped 27.2 kilos (60 pounds) in recent months after deciding to get healthy in 2015. She's been working for several months with trainer Natasha Kufa, a fitness pro who's also hit the gym with Matthew McConaughey and Alanis Morissette.

In March, TMZ reported that Shannon's workouts were an attempt to be chosen as a contestant on The Biggest Loser, but she's already accomplished a lot on her own. Shannon weighed roughly 165 kilos (365 pounds) when Here Comes Honey Boo Boo first aired in 2012. By the next year, she had already shed 45 kilos (100 pounds) simply by moving more as the show filmed.

Shannon's daughters Alanna "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson and Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon have also been working to tighten up. "I'm proud of the changes Alana, Pumpkin and myself have made and continue to make," Shannon wrote on Instagram in March. "It's a mind over matter, and yes I'm not going to lie it was hard at first."

But Shannon's beach photo shoot was clearly all play and no work. Wearing a bright red one-piece swimsuit, she frolicked along the water carrying a red buoy, just like the ones David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, and the rest of the Baywatch gang used to carry. She also goofed around in the shallow water.

Mama June spent the rest of her Florida vacay with Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson and her daughters Honey Boo Boo, Pumpkin, and Jessica "Chubbs" Shannon. Her eldest child, Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, was not present. Cardwell has reportedly severed ties with her mum, after Shannon — then separated from Sugar Bear — reunited with a former boyfriend who was a registered sex offender. Cardwell claimed the boyfriend had molested her when she was 8. In the fallout from the October scandal, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was cancelled.

Shannon might be back on the air soon, though, and not on a weight loss show. Us Weekly reported last month that she and Sugar Bear will appear on the upcoming season of WE tv's Marriage Boot Camp.

No word on whether she'll still be carrying that life preserver.
