The launch was originally meant to take place last month but Hurricane Patricia put a stop to that after battering the Mexican coastline and grounding flights and those precious bottles of booze.

"This has been two years in the making," a clearly excited Hawkins told Yahoo7 Entertainment.

The couple launched the new spirit, Sesión, which means session in Spanish, at a lavish event held at Point Piper mansion.

Hawkins said her and Wall were involved every step of the way in the production of the spirit from cutting the piñas to holding epic tasting sessions.

"We went all the way over to Mexico to visit the actual distillery," she said,

"We met everybody that works in the distillery, and everybody actually cuts the piñas. Jake even cut the piñas with thongs on but they were worried he'd cut his foot off".

The result is a smoother, more refined tasting tequila that blends seamlessly into any cocktail.

"It's really about having fun with life," Hawkins said.

"I definitely look after myself, I put the hard yards in and have a healthy lifestyle the majority of the time, but life is boring if you don't have a vice - and tequila is my vice."
