Madonna collapses on stage during Bowie tribute

Madonna has paid an emotional tribute to the late David Bowie in Texas overnight as part of her Rebel Heart tour.

The singer belted out a version of Bowie's Rebel Rebel before appearing to collapse in a heap of tears.

The 57-year-old said she'd been 'devastated' by the news that her inspiration had lost his secret battle with cancer.

In true Madonna style, the singer held nothing back, cavorting and jumping around on stage as she amped up the crowd with her touching tribute.

Madonna has made no secret of Bowie's impact on her life as an artist.

After his passing the material girl took to her official Facebook page to write: 'I'm devastated. David Bowie changed the course of my life forever.

'I never felt like I fit in growing up in Michigan. Like an oddball or a freak. I went to see him in concert at Cobo Arena in Detroit.

'I already had many of his records and was so inspired by the way he played with gender confusion. Was both masculine and feminine. Funny and serious. Clever and wise. His lyrics were witty ironic and mysterious.'
