'Mustafa' in Waleed Aly's Gold Logie speech revealed

It was one of the most stirring speeches in Australian television history.

But one specific line in Waleed Aly's Gold Logie acceptance speech hit a deeper chord with audiences than any other.

"Someone who is in this room -- and I'm not going to use the name they use in the industry -- came up to me, introduced themselves and said, 'I really hope you win. My name is Mustafa. But I can't use that name because I won't get a job."

Waleed continued: "He's here tonight. And it matters to people like that that I am here. I know it's not because of me. I know that."

Now, that man can be revealed as Here Come The Habibs actor Tyler De Nawi.

De Nawi's manager Anthony Kidd has confirmed to the Daily Mail that it was Tyler who spoke to Waleed on Sunday night.

The 26-year-old is not immune to controversy after speaking out against critics who labelled Here Come The Habibs as "racist" earlier this year.

"Hopefully it just pushes the whole industry forward. We’re not trying to get out there and make a political statement," he told the SBS.

"The creators of the show are Lebanese themselves - why would they want to tarnish their own name among their own people," he said.

Tyler is of Lebanese and Australian ancestry and grew up in Sydney in the Riverwood/Punchbowl area, in Sydney's south-west.
