Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda joined Late Late Show host James Corden for a special Broadway-themed edition of the popular Carpool Karaoke segment.
Every other week the Gavin and Stacy star invites a world-conquering celebrity to sit in his passenger seat, leading to frequent headline-grabbing sketches, but he may have just hit his highest note yet.
Cruising around the Big Apple ahead of his hosting duties at the 2016 Tony Awards on Sunday (June 12), the 37-year-old invited a whole host of theatre legends to belt out iconic tunes in his star-powered SUV.
Six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald, Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and 30 Rock alum Jane Krakowski joined in on the show stopping singing session.
However, it was Miranda and Corden who started proceedings by rapping two songs from his critically acclaimed musical, including the show’s opening number Alexander Hamilton.
Unbelievably things only got better from here, with McDonald, Ferguson and Krakowski joining the crooning combo on their cityscape sing-along.
The talented ensemble harmonized their way through some of theatre’s most memorable songs, including Seasons of Love from 1996’s Rent and You’re Just Too Good To Be True from 2005’s Jersey Boys.
Last but by certainly no means least, the whole car came together in crescendo with their epic performance of One Day More from the 1987 film Les Misérables.
Corden will follow in the footsteps of such luminaries as Julie Andrews and Anthony Hopkins as he hosts the annual awards ceremony in New York this weekend.
Talking to The Sun ahead of the event, the host revealed: “We’re going to open the Tonys with quite a big number - and no-one knows that Gary has written it.
"He is flying to New York this week to be with me for the preparation."
And if this Carpool Karaoke preview is anything to go by, then we’re in for an absolute treat!
