The event’s organiser Jacqueline Nagle said that she couldn’t reveal why the event was cancelled, due to a strict confidentiality agreement, but that all tickets will be refunded.

“We wish to bring attendees the best experience possible, and unfortunately due to issues within our organisation we are unable to move forward with our event at this time,” read a statement on the event’s website.

“The Simpatico Connection organisers wish to convey our sincerest apologies to the proposed keynote speaker Reese Witherspoon, along with speakers Naomi Simson, Elize Hattin, Lisa Lockland-Bell, Vicki Webster, and Alice Haemmerle and those who wished to attend the conference.

“All tickets will be refunded. In the spirit of the event, The Simpatico Connection will make a donation to our charity partner Save the Children.”

Witherpoon has yet to address the reason for her last minute cancellation.
