"We all have a lot of projects going on, a lot of things in the pipeline. I’m really just focused on all the things in my life that I get to juggle," he recently told the Metro UK ahead of the announcement.

Ever since Lambert, 34, took the title of runner-up in the eighth season of talent show juggernaut American Idol in 2009, his career has been going from strength to strength.

Not only has he spawned several hit singles, including Whataya Want from Me, he’s also been nominated for a Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and collaborated with rock band Queen as a lead vocalist in their world tour.

The news comes just day after it was confirmed that Guy, who rose to fame after appearing on the Australian Idol in 2003, will return as a judge. Last week it was announced that Aussie singer Iggy had also landed a spot on the judging table.

In an official statement from Channel 7, the new season promises “artists will be developed and nurtured like never before' and warns The X Factor stage has never been so intense.”
