Time flies when you’re head over heels in love.

Just ask Sally Obermeder who celebrated her 15-year wedding anniversary with husband, Marcus, this month.

“It’s hard to wrap my head around that number – it has gone quickly!” the bubbly Daily Edition co-host told Be.

“When someone says 15, I think ‘wow that’s a lot’!”

“16 years ago my mate Jack insisted on setting me up on a blind date with a friend. That friend who I was supposed to be set up with brought Marcus along to the party where we were supposed to meet,” Obermeder posted on Instagram.

“I confess that I peeked through the hole in the door to suss them out before they came in. With the door closed I turned to Jack and said: 'The guy on the left is amazing'. Jack says: ‘Oh sorry, the set up is with the guy on the right’. But it all worked out just as it should. Marcus, thank you for 15 amazing years.”

“It was a blind date that went wrong but went right!” Sally revealed to Be. “It was supposed to be a set up with Marcus’s mate. We’re all still good friends,” she laughs.

Twelve months to the day of that first date the adorable pair became husband and wife. Sally said she and Marcus spent their anniversary with their daughter Annabelle, 4, “swapping heels for Converse” over a low-key family dinner “for three” in Sydney.

“Tonight was supposed to be date night to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary, but like so many things in life and marriage, things did not go to plan,” Sally wrote on Instagram.

“Wouldn't have it any other way. Happy Anniversary my love, @marcus_obermeder, thank you for being bloody amazing.”

Following a public battle with a rare form of breast cancer – Sally was given the all clear in October 2012 – the Channel Seven star openly revealed her heartache of suffering a miscarriage in 2015, in addition to losing Marcus’ mother, sharing a touching post on Instagram.

Reflecting on those challenging times, Sally tells Be she and Marcus are now “closer than ever”.

“We go home at the end of the day, and we’re like [life] is pretty good,” she said.

"Marcus and I are a great team. I’m all about working in a team, that’s when the greatest results are achieved.

“You realise how precious life is, and how short it is. We’re really grateful to have each other, lucky to have family and to have each other’s back.

“Marcus is an amazing guy. I’m very lucky.”

On top of celebrating her marriage milestone this month Sally announced an ambassadorship with Jeans for Genes Australia, a cause that’s close to her heart.

“As a mum, to see any child suffer with anything is heartbreaking,” she said.

“To know that there are kids out there suffering and there’s something we could be doing about it – it’s a no brainer. We have to raise as much money as we can and get the word out about genetic diseases.”

Sally said her number one wish for Jeans for Genes day – which takes place on August 5 – is to raise as much money as possible to support genetic research.

“I hope we blow it out of the water in terms of fundraising. It’s the first year you can donate by texting. You don’t have to wait to [purchase a pin]. You can just text for $5, the amount will automatically be added to your phone bill,” she said.

The busy mum and published author – who also runs the popular SWIISH fashion and lifestyle website on top of her Channel Seven TV duties – added her own daughter, Annabelle, will show her style support for the important cause this year.

“She loves a bit of denim, don’t you worry! She will be in her denim jeans, styled by herself. Trust me I have no say anymore! She will be choosing her own outfit [on the day]. She loves [fashion], so I let her wear whatever she wants.”

A regular on the red carpet social scene, the positive presenter admits she prefers to “dress for my mood,” confessing she’s committed a few fashion crimes in her time.

“I’m a child of the 80’s, of course! I had double denim, with crimped hair, crimped fringe. I can’t believe my mom let me leave the house like that!”

These days with such a busy schedule, the style blogger and health guru – who published her second book with sister Maha Koraiem, Super Green Smoothies in March – insists on taking a balanced approach, both with her health and lifestyle choices.

“I have come to realise in my line of work that no two days are the same, and no two weeks are the same. I think a couple of years ago I made peace with that.”

“When that happened, things got easier,” she said, adding she maintains her green smoothie a day ritual and is a fan of F45-style high intensity interval training.

"For me it’s about consistency. I have a green smoothie daily, which makes a massive difference to my energy levels."

Sally highlighted her breast cancer journey helped her emerge with a positive outlook on life.

“The greatest thing I got out of [having cancer] is that you never know what tomorrow brings. The best thing to do is enjoy the day you have got.

"Enjoy it. Have fun, have laughs and appreciate what you have.

“The shitty times will come. Don’t forget to enjoy the good bits in between.

“That’s what’s important.”

Sally Obermeder is an ambassador for Jeans for Genes which takes place on Friday, August 5.
