Johnny Depp gives first public interview since Amber Heard divorce

Johnny Depp has given his first public interview since it was announced he was divorcing from his ex Amber Heard — but stayed mum about his controversial legal battle.

The 53-year-old actor appeared on the Jonesy’s Jukebox radio talk show alongside a few of his Hollywood Vampires bandmates — Matt Sorum, Robert DeLeo and Bruce Witkin.

And although the Pirates of the Caribbean star freely spoke about his music, he remained silent about his highly publicised split.

"I’ve [been a musician] since I was little – since I was 12 I’ve played. I started playing clubs when I was like 13 in Miami," he revealed.

Johnny also admitted that he became an actor by accident.

"I needed to pay rent. Somebody said, ‘Why don’t you go meet an agent. My agent is with Nic Cage,’ so she sent me on an audition for something and I got it," he said.

Johnny's ex-wife Amber filed for divorce from Johnny in May and was granted a temporary restraining order against him after claiming he assaulted her.

Lawyers for the actress have alleged that she suffered "years of abuse" at the hands of the actor.

This will not be Johnny's first divorce. He married make-up artist Lori Anne Allison in 1983 but they went their separate ways two years later.

He also split from French actress partner Vanessa Paradis - who he has daughter Lily-Rose, 17, and 13-year-old son Jack with - in 2012 after 14 years together.

Amber was in a three-year relationship with girlfriend Tasya until 2011.
