Bachelor contestant was married before appearing on the show

Contestant Megan Marx, who is coined to be a favourite in the series, was previously married at 18.

It has been uncovered that the 27-year-old got hitched when she as a teen and was married for "six or seven years".

"She was 18 when she married. I would have liked her to wait a little longer, but they seemed like a good match at the time," Megan's father, Ross Upchurch, told the Daily Mail.

"We're very proud of her, she's a lovely girl. She's got a great relationship with her family."

Last week, a promo for The Bachelor aired, showing Megan charming Australia's most eligible bachelor.

During their chat, Megan describes herself to the 31-year-old as being "very active", adding: "I love the water, I love the ocean, I love nature."

Richie was shown sitting down on a couch next to Megan, making it very clear he was keen on her.

"I've actually been waiting to have a chat with you all night," he confessed.

"I really felt that we hit it off".

The Bachelor will air on July 27.
