Anton Yelchin’s parents post touching tribute to their late son

Anton Yelchin parents have paid a heartbreaking tribute to the star just weeks after his death.

Irina and Victor Yelchin posted an ad in The Hollywood Reporter thanking fans for their support.

"To all of you who have sent flowers and gifts, for your condolences and kind words and to all who came to celebrate the life our dear son, Anton," they wrote.

"We are deeply grateful for your unconditional love for our son. He would be surprised at how many hearts and souls he touched. Thank you very much, Irina & Viktor Yelchin."

Yelchin was killed last month in a tragic freak accident.

The 27-year-old's body was found wedged between his car and the gate of his home in Studio City, California.

Ed Winter, assistant chief coroner of the Los Angeles County coroner's office, confirmed to People magazine that the actor died of accidental "blunt traumatic asphyxia".

Zachary Quinto paid tribute to his Star Trek co-star during The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

"I don’t even know how to talk about it," he said.

"We already knew this would be a bitter-sweet experience because of the loss of Leonard [Nimoy] last year, but this has just been absolutely devastating for all of us."
