Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander first met on the dance floor: ‘I had two left feet’


Michael Fassbender had no idea he was such a daggy dancer until Alicia Vikander arrived on the scene.

The real-life couple, who play a married duo in their new film The Light Between Oceans, recalled the first time they met, in a new interview with ET.

“We had met at Toronto Film Festival and just on the dance floor,” Alicia says in the clip, with Michael chiming in: “I thought [I was a good dancer] until she started dancing and then I felt like I had two left feet.”

The 39-year-old actor, who met Alicia, 27, properly during the film rehearsals in 2014, said the chemistry was “sort of there from the beginning”. Aww!

“There was a load of dancing in the mornings, actually,” Alicia said, with Michael chiming in: “Because it was cold.”

You guys, they’re even finishing each other’s sentences.

Well, they have been spending a lot of time together. The Swedish actress was spotted wth the Irish actor on numerous occasions in recent months, while he was shooting Alien: Covenant in Sydney.

The Light Between Oceans is based on the story of Australian Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender), who returns home after fighting in the western trenches of World War I in Europe.

He and his wife, Isabel (Alicia Vikander), move to an isolated lighthouse in WA, where they informally adopt a baby girl who washes up in a lifeboat.

Filmed in Otago New Zealand and Tasmania, The Light Between Oceans hits Australian cinemas on December 26, 2016.
