5 bombshells Lauren Conrad dropped on The Hills anniversary special

1. Her love with Brody was just a big showmance.
Lauren admitted the producers played up her love storyline with Brody. "I definitely had a crush on Brody. But the funny thing was we had zero chemistry. He was my friend, I enjoyed spending time with him, but it just felt forced." Unaired footage showed Lauren asking: "Can we please be done?", after kissing Brody while filming.

2. Remember her French "love interest"? Totally staged.
Her producers wanted her to kiss the French casanova in the Paris special but Lauren refused: "I'm pretty sure you guys [said to a Hills producer] were picking guys out and sending them over because they would come over and I knew they had already signed a release because they were mic'd!" Lauren "ran like a thief" said the French dude in an unseen clip.

3. Her ex-boyfriend Jason was battling substance at the time.
Jason suffered from alcohol abuse and had drinking-related arrests, including time behind bars. Lauren reflects on their post break-up meet, which never aired. "So when I saw Jason that day, it was the first time I had seen him since we had broken up. It was really hard. What made it harder was I could see he wasn't sober."

She adds: "That really broke me, because I felt like a responsibility to take care of him... there were a lot of nights that I was getting 2 a.m. phone calls and I had to go pick him up passed out in the back of a club. So I was like who is doing that now, I know he doesn't have friends who are doing it...I was like, oh God, no-one is taking care of him."

4. Her epic fight with Audrina was the cause for Lauren's #mascaratear.
The showdown came about when Audrina put a lock on her guesthouse while living with Lauren. "We just weren't getting along when we were living together," she explains.

5. The Teen Vogue internship? Also a set up.
Lauren was actually concerned she wouldn't land the prestigious internship at Teen Vogue, not realising it was all set up. "I really did! I never assumed anything was mine, especially in that situation," Lauren admitted.
