Darth Vader returns in new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer

Disney just dropped the new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and we're probably going to watch it on loop at least another 17 times.

The film has been shrouded in both excitement and controversy after rumours spread of re-shoots of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

But nothing, and we mean NOTHING is going to kill our Star Wars buzz. Especially now we have some new footage to feast upon.

Felicity Jones plays Jyn Erso in the flick, a rebel within the rebellion, who is being groomed for some key espionage work.

Aussie actor Ben Mendelsohn joins her in the trailer, with a pretty devious look on his face. He plays the villainous Director Orson Krennic in the upcoming film.

We also get our first glimpse of Darth Vader, who returns to the franchise for the first time since 2005's Revenge of the Sith.

The plot revolves around the Rebel spy mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, which lead up to the events of the first Star Wars movie, A New Hope, in which the space station is ultimately destroyed by Luke and his X-Wing chums.

Helmed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards, the movie also stars Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen and Alan Tudyk.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits cinemas on December 15.
