"I want to see more diversity" Fiona Falkiner shares her joy at being a plus-sized cover girl

She lost an impressive 30kg while competing on The Biggest Loser.

But that doesn't mean Fiona Falkiner isn't proud of her curves, with the plus-sized model calling for more diverse body types when it comes to models on the cover of magazines.

Speaking to Be at the Maxim fifth birthday bash on Friday, Fiona said the opportunity to pose for the magazine earlier this year was a proud moment for her.

"It meant so much to me being the first curvy plus sized girl, it was really exciting," Fiona said.

She also praised the magazine for embracing new body types for their covers.

"The guys at Maxim, I think it's amazing that they're showing body shapes of all sizes and diversity which I think is really important to get that out there."

It's also something she wants to see more and encourages other publications to follow suit when it comes to using plus-sized model for their campaigns.

"I think we should have that representation, I want to see more diversity. All sizes, all shapes, all body types, there should be a lot more diversity out there," she said.

As for her own fitness-inspired cover shoot, while graced the January edition of Maxim, the former Biggest Loser contestant said she upped her training to get in shape for it.

"I did up my training regime. Since last year I have been doing a lot more weight based training, but I upped the anti and I was doing F45 and had a personal trainer and then did swimming, yoga, everything!"

Since beginning her fitness journey on the reality weight loss show ten years ago, the model has kept it a part of her daily routine, even partaking in grueling training sessions while holidaying in Thailand and New York.

"For me now it's part of what I do, it's a part of my life now," Fiona said.

"Wherever I am, I try and do something for me, take time out and invest that time in me.

"It doesn't have to be at the gym and really intense it might just be going for a walk or a swim or going to yoga, just something for me that I can give back to myself and focus on me for a good hour."
