Former 3 Doors Down guitarist Matt Roberts dies aged 38


3 Doors Down ex-guitarist Matt Roberts has tragically passed away, aged 38.

TMZ reports that the ex-guitarist died of an accidental overdose.

The guitarist was expected to perform at a charity event just outside of Wisconsin and was staying at a hotel nearby.

His father, Darrell Roberts, was staying in the hotel's adjoining room, and said he last saw his son at around 1am on Saturday, August 20, after rehearsals for the event.

According to TMZ, Darrell was woken by detectives at around 9am and was told his son has passed away during the night.

Matt left 3 Doors Down in 2012 because of health issues concerning blood circulation.

He formed 3 Doors Down in 1996 with lead singer Brad Arnold and bassist Todd Harrell.
