"I don't give a f*** what they think": Roxy Jacenko opens up about turbulent 2016

Roxy Jacenko has hit back at claims she faked her breast cancer diagnosis while giving a revealing inside look at her life as a single mother.

Since her husband Oliver Curtis was jailed for insider trading in June, the PR maven has been left to not only run her three businesses, but also look after her two children Pixie and Hunter alone.

Roxy announced last month she had been diagnosed with cancer after finding a lump in her breast. Her announcement was met with skepticism, with online trolls even going to the length of positing "How is your mummy's fake cancer going?" on her son's Instagram page.

Speaking to Allison Langdon on 60 Minutes, Roxy refused to believe the skepticism was down to having an image problem.

"I don't think I have an image problem. Jealously is a curse and I don't know what people would be jealous of. Whatever I've got I've worked hard for," Roxy said.

When Allison pressed the issue of "normal people" questioning the timing of the announcement, Roxy didn't hold back on.

"Well they're not normal Allison, change your friends because that's not a kind person.

"If someone I knew was in my position and they had been diagnosed with cancer three weeks after their husband went to jail I certainly wouldn't be having an opinion on "Is that convenient timing", I would be saying "What can I do to help them?"

"You would have to be sick in the head to think someone would manipulate a timeline on cancer. People die from cancer. I think it's pathetic. This is about someone who has been diagnosed with cancer, someone whose husband has just gone to jail and whose two children have lost their father. Forget image. I don't care about image."

The interview also gave an update on Roxy's health, with the busy mother-of-two going against a full mastectomy and opting to have just the lump removed.

Doctors took the cancer, surrounding tissues and lymph nodes during the operation but were extremely happy with the outcome of the procedure.

Despite being in a series and scary situation, the Sweaty Betty PR founder managed to see at least one light-hearted moment, saying she taken a selfie of her boobs before going under the knife so she was able to compare what they looked like before and after.

Roxy also told the program that since Oliver's jailing, her two children have been dealing with adjustment in different ways. While she said two-year-old Hunter has adjusted exceptionally well, five-year-old Pixie continues to struggle and cry for her father on a daily basis.

"I said he's in China," Roxy admitted when asked what she has told her daughter about Oliver's whereabouts.

"I think there are certain things you choose to tell a child. Pixie is very up-set. Everyday is hard with her now. She's reserved and she cries for her dad. And it's not a position I ever wanted to be in."
