Miranda Kerr's former PR blogs about emotional toll of working with the supermodel

EXCLUSIVE:

Miranda Kerr's former PR guru Carlii Lyon has written a moving blog post detailing the emotional toll of working with supermodel Miranda Kerr.

In the cryptic post titled Always wear Red Lipstick, the publicist reveals she had a close relationship with an "incredibly stunning, intelligent and powerful woman" but ended up constantly comparing herself to her client, often refusing to go to exclusive parties and events because she "knew I would end up feeling like the unattractive tag along."

"The way I would deal with my shrunken self would be to put on my Miss Professional persona," she writes. "If I was never going to be beautiful enough then I thought I better do what I can to look as intelligent as possible.

Carlii has since confirmed to Be that the woman in question is her former client Miranda, who she worked with for seven years before they parted ways in 2012.

Explaining the reasoning for her inspiring honesty about her self-esteem issues, she tells us, "We all feel it sometimes and I have come to a point where I think it is healthy for us to talk about it in both a personal and professional arena."

Carlii stressed it was nothing the supermodel - who is engaged to Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel - "said or did" to make her feel that particular way, it simply came down to the insecurities in her head. What's more, it took a close friend to notice what was happening for her to snap out of it.

"My dear friend pulled me aside and said - 'For god’s sake go and put on some red lipstick. Stop trying to make yourself invisible,'" Carlii writes.

"Now before anyone accuses my friend of being anti-feminist, it really had nothing to do with the lipstick. My friend could see straight through the game I was playing and she would not stand to watch me play it. I was feeding my insecurities and she loved me enough to call it."

Carlii adds that things for her improved significantly after that and she learnt to love herself again.

"The moment you stop comparing yourself to others is the moment you acknowledge that being yourself is not only beautiful it is life’s ultimate achievement," she adds.
