Adriano Zumbo pays tribute to Gene Wilder with edible Willy Wonka hat on Just Desserts

Just Desserts chef Adriano Zumbo has paid tribute to Gene Wilder with a floating top hat, which will feature on the Channel 7 show tonight.

The famous pastry chef posted a snap of the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory actor, who died overnight, aged 83.

“There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination RIP,” Zumbo captioned the snap. “A huge inspiration to myself and many others.”

Nine years ago, Zumbo previously revealed he got a tattoo of Wilder in character on his arm, when his carer began to take out.

“It keeps imagination alive in people who work in creative fields,” he said in an interview on 2Day FM's Rove & Sam.

“You can always imagine the unexpected and strive for it. You may never get there, but it’s always a good thing to have.

“For a movie that came out so long ago, it’s amazing it still inspires people to dream.”

Tonight’s episode sees a baking competition challenge inspired Willy Wonka floating edible hat in which two contestants must remake.
