Taylor Swift dismissed from jury duty due to her ongoing sexual assault case

Taylor Swift has been dismissed from jury duty.

The 26-year-old singer was called up as a potential juror in a sexual assault case in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday (29.08.16) but was dismissed because of her own lawsuit against former radio host David Mueller.

Taylor explained that she has an ongoing lawsuit against the DJ, who she accused of groping her when they met backstage at her concert in Colorado last year, and the judge ruled she could not be impartial in the aggravated rape and kidnapping case.

Ken Whitehouse, a spokesman for the Davidson County district attorney general's office, said: "She asked to be left off out of concern for an upcoming trial in Denver where she was - she used the term - 'groped' by a fan at a meet-and-greet."

Taylor added that she would be happy to serve on another type of case.

Last year Mueller filed a lawsuit against Taylor, claiming he was fired from a country radio station after being kicked out of a Taylor concert when her security team made the allegations against him.

He said he and his girlfriend were invited backstage to meet Taylor and took a picture with the 'Wildest Dreams' hitmaker, but claims he later bumped into a colleague backstage, who boasted about getting a picture with the singer and grabbed her bum.

In the lawsuit, David claims that at some point in the evening a member of Taylor's security team confronted him and kicked him out of the arena for the incident.

Taylor later launched a counter-claim, saying she was "surprised, upset, offended, and alarmed" by the alleged assault.
