EXCLUSIVE: Michelle Bridges shares her tips on how to get the most out of your workouts

She's trained dozens on The Biggest Loser helping them achieve their goal weight, but Michelle Bridges has offered one major piece of advice when it comes to getting the most out of your work-outs.

And it all comes down to motivation, or perhaps a lack-there-of.

"You don’t have to be motivated all the time, like a spring coil to get a training session in," Michelle exclusively told Be.

That's right, with Spring just around the corner and the prospect of a bikini lurking, everybody thinks it's the best time to hit the gym, but Michelle says it's more about being consistent with your routine than motivation.

“I think motivation is a little bit of an overused word. I think we all hang our hats on motivation, and often we use it as a sneaky excuse to not exercise. You don’t need to be," Michelle said.

"You don’t have to be motivated to eat well, you don’t even have to be motivated to do a little bit of activity or exercise. It’s just about being consistent. You don’t have to be motivated all the time, like a spring coil to get a training session in."

"I actually find it quite refreshing. Some sessions will be harder than others and that’s okay but consistency is key. You can be motivated by setting some goals, but what happens when those goals have been met? Motivation and goal setting is awesome and I encourage it completely however like the waves of the ocean, it will come and go. And it is okay, you don’t need to go into slump, just keep ticking the box of doing twenty to thirty minutes of something until the next goal or incentive comes along.”

The mother-of-one, who welcomed son Axel with partner Steve "Commando" Willis in December last year, went on to say even she has adjusted her workout routine to her new lifestyle.

"It just comes down to being more organised and trying to get to bed earlier – that’s probably the biggest key factor for me," she said.

"The more sleep I get, the more inclined I am to wake up in the morning and go and knock that training session out of the way."

"Sometimes I’ll take him with me which is a change up form my training, I’m probably going more outdoors now with a pram which is a nice change and quite refreshing too. I guess it’s taking the pressure off and not feeling like I have to train hard every session, or like you have to train every single day. But knowing by doing something for myself, everybody including my son gets the best of me.”

Michelle recently teamed up with Medibank as an ambassador, with her first joint-initiative Personal Better Day, which kicks off this weekend with Park Run.

Speaking about the partnership, the personal trainer said she hopes to see as many people as possible out and about on Saturday morning.

"It’s just beautiful because this is my message and always has been, about inclusiveness, any age, any demographic, any fitness level, anyone can pretty much come and go for a walk in a park. You can take it as seriously as you want to or you can bring your dog, bring your pram, bring your best friend and just use it as a time to catch up. But it is a really great community inclusive vibe and a really fun and heartwarming first initiative."
