Confirmed: Sandy is ALIVE

Fan theories aren't always right!

You've heard the bizarre fan theories going around about Sandy from Grease being in a coma the whole movie before dying at the end....

Well, it's been confirmed Sandy is alive, people! This is according to the guy who literally wrote the book on the subject: Grease co-creator Jim Jacobs. (So that's gotta be legit, right?)

Sandy and Danny... a ghost story?

TMZ got in touch with Jim, who wrote the original version of the musical (along with Warren Casey), to get to the truth on the matter.

“Sandy was very much alive,” he said.

And it turns out, Jim is pretty sure whoever came up with the theory that Sandy actually drowned, and that the entire movie is her waterlogged synapses short-circuiting before she dies and ascends to heaven in a flying car, was on acid!

Plus, there is a whole sequel, Grease 2, which focuses on Sandy’s cousin coming to Rydell High and everyone fails to mention anything about Sandy pushing daisies!

But some fans aren't accepting it!

The theory comes from a few moments in the film - when Danny sings about saving Sandy’s life when she “nearly drowned” at the beach, the crew singing We’ll Always Be Together at the end and the part where Danny and Sandy’s car flies into the clouds.

Jim co-wrote the original musical in 1971 and this particular fan theory relates to the 1978 movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, and there are significant differences between the two works, including the closing image of a flying car (impractical for a stage musical in 1971) upon which much of the current Grease theory rests.

Will we ever get closure?
