Watch the first steamy Fifty Shades Darker teaser

A teaser for Fifty Shades Darker has been released ahead of the release of the worldwide trailer on Wednesday.

The 19-second teaser features the return of Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dorman as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the sequel to the racy romp-fest Fifty Shades of Grey.

In the clip, viewers are invited to "slip into something a shade darker," with a close-up of a black and white mask in a satin box. "Intrigued?" asks Christian Grey, before the image cuts away.

The second installment in the Fifty Shades series, based on the books by E.L. James, arrives in cinemas on February 10, 2017.

But will it actually be any good? After all, the first film in the franchise won a whopping five Razzie Awards in 2015.

The erotic drama took the sweeps at the tongue-in-cheek annual ceremony - which recognises the worst performances in film - with stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson picking up Worst Actor and Worst Actress respectively, as well as Worst Screen Combo.

The adaptation of E.L. James' fantasy novel also scooped Worst Screenplay and tied for Worst Picture with Fantastic Four. Ouch.
