"I don't know what it is. It's a sad thing. Say a little prayer. I am concerned for Angie and the children and hopefully I will be seeing them very soon."

Whilst Angelina didn't have too close a relationship with her father, she was incredibly close to her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who tragically passed away from breast cancer in 2007.

The reports of the shock split emerged overnight that Angelina has filed for divorce from Brad as it is in "the best interests" of her children.

The By The Sea star - who has Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight, with the actor - filed papers on Monday to end their two-year marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

Her longtime manager Geyer Kosinki told E! News: "Angelina is doing what's best in the interest of taking care of her children. She appreciates everyone's understanding of their need for privacy at this time."

Whilst entertainment attorney Robert Offer added in a statement: "Angelina has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

The 41-year-old actress reportedly decided to end the couple's marriage as she was "extremely upset" by how Brad was parenting their children.

In the papers submitted to the court, she is seeking joint legal custody but not joint physical custody. Angelina also confirmed she is happy for the 52-year-old actor to have visitation rights.
