Olivia Newton John opens up on daughter's struggle

Olivia Newton John has weighed in on her daughter Chloe Lattanzi’s past struggles with addiction, anorexia and life in the public eye.

During an interview with Karl Stefanovic for 60 Minutes, the singer-turned-actress said that it’s not easy being the child of a celebrity.

“I think it's hard to be the child of a person in the limelight,” she says in the clip above, while referencing her daughter's struggles. “I really understand that."

Chloe has admittedly struggled in the past with cocaine and alcohol abuse. She was also admitted to a rehabilitation centre for treatment, due to an eating disorder, when she was a teenager.

And then there's her rumoured struggles with plastic surgery addiction.

According to a recent New Idea story, Olivia, 52, is "desperate" for her only child to stop having plastic surgery, and is "terrified it will ruin her."

"She's got a horrible case of body dysmorphia - no matter how thing she gets, she always feels she needs to do more," a source revealed to the mag.

"Olivia is desperately worried. Chloe is her baby and she's always stood by her decisions - but she thinks she's going too far with changing her body this much and is begging her to stop. It's heartbreaking for Olivia to watch," another source added.

Posing for the camera with her mum, Chloe wrote alongside the snap, "So sad my mama flying back to LA. I'll miss u mama so big. There's something about having my mom near by, that makes me feel safe. Like everything's always gonna be ok."

During the 60 Minutes interview, Olivia said that it’s only human to wonder what happened to her ex-partner Patrick McDermott, who disappeared in 2005.

“Yeah it was very hard. He was lost at sea and nobody really knows what happened,” she said, before adding that she does still wonder if he survived.

Olivia and Patrick had been dating for nine years before he disappeared off a fishing boat in California in 2005.

But earlier this year, Woman’s Day published fresh reports that he had been found alive.

“I mean it’s human to wonder,” she said. “But you know... those are the things in life you have to accept and let go.
