Steven Avery from 'Making A Murderer' is engaged

Making A Murderer’s Steven Avery is now engaged to Las Vegas woman, Lynn Hartman.

The subject of the Netflix documentary series had been secretly dating the legal secretary for eight months and only last week did the couple first meet face-to-face.

Hartman surprised Steven at Waupun Correctional Institute in Waupun, Wisconsin, where he has served 11 years of his life sentence.

The lovebirds, both 53, began communicating with letters, followed by phone calls, and now just one week after meeting for the first time, they’ve decided to tie the knot.

"She's going to be my future wife. We'll be laughing forever," Steven told the Daily Mail in an interview from his prison phone.

"I'm happy. She treats me decent, she loves me. She's kind of spoiling me right now. I just want to be happy and enjoy my life. I think I did enough time," the prisoner said.

Despite the two confessing their love for each other, Lynn has received an overwhelming amount of online abuse, being accused of using the Manitowoc County man for his newfound fame.

However, Lynn hasn’t let the threats get in the way of their relationship and is very optimistic about her and her fiancé's future together.

"I am very happy to announce that Steven Avery asked me to marry him today, and I accepted. It has been a difficult road getting to this point in our lives but we are very happy. Despite all obstacles, and Steven's wrongful conviction and incarceration, we plan to be married shortly after he is released," the paralegal said in a Facebook post on the official Avery/Dassey Fund group.

Steven was sentenced to life in prison without parole in 2007 for the killing of 25-year-old photographer Teresa Halbach in 2005.

Before his murder conviction, Steven had served 18 innocent years in prison for a rape he didn’t commit and this time round, the Making A Murderer star continues to vouch for his innocence.

His nephew Brendan Dassey, then 16, was also sent to prison for admitting he was an accessory to the murder crime. However, in August, it was announced the 26-year-old’s conviction had been overturned and is set to to be released in less than 60 days.

Steven has managed to maintain a very active love life despite being behind bars.

He had four kids with his first wife Lori Dassey from 1982 to 1988 and later during his sentence, Steven was engaged to Jodi Stachowski.

Steven’s attorney Kathleen Zellner told People, "Steven deserves every bit of happiness that comes his way.

He is very much in love and happy with Lynn so we are happy for them."

Amen!
