Brad and Ange were living separate lives before split

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were living in "separate" parts of their home before their divorce.

The former couple split last week after 12 years together but have apparently been staying in different wings of their massive Hollywood Hills estate before she filed for divorce from the Big Short star.

A source close to Brad told Us Weekly magazine: "Angelina basically had her own wing and he had his."

The insider added: "They began living these separate lives. Their arguments progressively became more frequent."

Brad is said to have spoken to some of his pals about the pair's relationship while working on his forthcoming film Allied.

"He said they've had rocky moments before," the source said. "But this is the roughest patch they'd ever been through."

A source close to Angelina added: "She cannot deal with anyone talking about their business."

The pair - who have six children, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight - are said to have signed a pre-nuptial agreement so it seems there shouldn't be too many issues dividing up their combined US$400 million fortune.

Between them, the couple are said to own a total of 12 properties, all of which were bought before they married.

Seven houses are Brad's, and two are Angelina's while three others - a New York apartment, a mansion in New Orleans and a vineyard in France - were joint purchases made before they wed, and the pre-nup stipulates how they will be divided.

Meanwhile, we won’t be seeing Brad Pitt posing on the red carpet of the upcoming Voyage of Time premiere.

Following his split from Angelina Jolie last week, the 52-year-old said he wouldn’t be attending as he is “currently focused on his family.”

In a statement, the World War Z actor said: “Terrence’s Voyage of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time.”

Brad is the narrator of the documentary and said he is “very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project."

After Ange, 41, filed for divorce, it’s no surprise that Brad is wanting to lie low and be with his family at this time.

“I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see.”
