EXCLUSIVE: Bachelorette’s Jay ‘lacked chemistry’ with Georgia

He rarely got a look in onscreen on The Bachelorette and according to Jay it was for a good reason.

The 33-year-old Wellness Coach explains to Be that he simply didn’t have chemistry with Georgia Love.

“We do have a lot in common,” he tells. “She’s very driven, passionate, self-assured, and we had an amazing connection.

“But ultimately, I’m always looking for that chemistry or that spark and if it’s not there, I’ve just come to realise that you don’t want to pursue something just for the sake of pursuing it.

He adds: “When you’re looking for that life partner, you’re looking for something more in terms of that spark and we just didn’t have that."

“We’ll definitely stay mates,” he adds.

The South Australian expat, who relocated just 10 days ago to Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, says he’s very open to finding love in Sydney.

“I’m always open to love,” he says. “I’m in a phase of my life where I believe things do happen for the right reasons.

“You meet the right people at the right time, so being in Sydney, I’m really excited for a fresh start.”

But The Bachelorette contestant has had more than his fair share of fresh starts, having fallen very ill as a teenager.

“I was a junior athlete and became ill gradually from the age of 15 to 16 - ended up in hospital, on my death bed, weighing 38 kilos and almost died,” he tells Be.

“I came through that, had an initial turning point and another relapse, so I was back in hospital and almost died again.

He continues: “Came through that and literally just transformed my body – I had a team mate who came in all bronzed and broad shoulders – so I just though, ‘I don’t care what I have to do I want to get my body back and looking like that.

“So I just committed myself to literally transforming my life – not just the body, but the training and nutrition mindset as well.

“So that kind of launched me into the career that I’ve been in now for the past 10 to 12 years.”

Jay, who was booted off The Bachelorette last night alongside Aaron, now runs his own Wellness business.

The Bachelorette continues tonight on Network Ten.
