Cate steps out without her wedding ring amid scandal

Oscar-winning acting Goddess Cate Blanchett was snapped wearing a random turquoise ring on her ring finger, amid reports her husband Andrew Upton was seen cosying up to another woman.

The acclaimed star was spotted out in New York on Tuesday leaving a building in the Lower Manhattan suburb of Tribeca.

In the snaps, the 47-year-old, who has been recently filming scenes for her role as Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, is seen darted quickly away from the cameras and into a nearby car.

So why do we care about a few snaps of Cate wearing an unusual ring? Especially since she's been known to wear different rings on that particular finger throughout the years...

Well, less than a week ago, the Lord of the Rings star’s name was dragged into headlines after her husband-of-19-years was snapped getting close to Love Child star Harriet Dyer at a Sydney pub.

New Idea magazine obtained footage of the pair.

In the clip, Andrew, 50, can be seen putting his arm around the 27-year-old's shoulders, while she looks equally touchy-feely, pulling him close and even nuzzling into him.

An onlooker tells the magazine that at one point, they even held hands.

"They seemed very close. They were there with a group, playing pool and drinking, but they were never far from each other.

"At one point they were holding hands and he had his arm around her. I don' know if Cate would've been happy to see them like this, that's for sure."

They then left the venue, with Harriet holding onto Andrews arm before being confronted about their night out.

"We've been friends for years," Andrew reasoned, before insisting that Kate wouldn't be upset about him holding hands with Harriet 'at all'.

The pair then left in separate taxis.

Harriet, who plays Patricia Saunders in Love Child, has previously worked with Andrew at the Sydney Theatre Company, where he and Cate simultaneously served as artistic directors from 2008 to 2015.

In fact, at the AACTA Awards last year, Harriet gushed, "I've always looked up to Cate Blanchett."

According to New Idea, Cate left Sydney just days after her husband's night out, taking daughter Edit, one, and son Roman, 12, with her.

She hasn't been photographed with Andrew since August and was spotted at New York's JFK airport on October 10.

Meanwhile, Harriet will make a red carpet appearance on Tuesday, October 25, to promote her role in season two of Stan's No Activity at Sydney’s Golden Age Cinema.
