Aussie star Melissa George’s long-term partner Jean-David Blanc has faced French court over claims he allegedly assaulted the actress at their Paris apartment.

Melissa, 40, was photographed looking downcast as she left the Paris courthouse on Thursday.

Jean-David, 48, left the venue separately, after denying allegations that he physically abused the former Home and Away actress last month.

The domestic assault case has been remanded until February next year, French newspaper La Parisien reports.

At the time of the alleged assault, Melissa was reportedly left with bruises on her face and was taken to Cochin hospital in Paris (where she resides), hours after she made a 3am visit to her local police station.

"According to statements by the actress... she was assaulted by her companion," M6info claims.

The actress reportedly told police her partner struck out with “violent blows” during a moment of severe “stress”.

Jean-David was is said to have been questioned at length and cleared of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the alleged incident.

The pair met in 2011 at the BAFTAs after-party and started dating in 2012. They welcomed their first child Raphael, in February 2014, followed by Solal, in November last year.

At the time of Solal's birth, Melissa took to social media to gush over her longtime partner.

"Thank you to my love, Jean David, for giving me the best gift in my life. I love you," she wrote.

Melissa was previously married to Chilean film director Claudio Dabed whom she divorced in 2011.
