EXCLUSIVE: Jake's mum 'bawled' when Georgia dumped him

It sounds like Georgia broke more than just Jake's heart yesterday...

Jake Ellis looked totally devo when Georgia Love farewelled him during last night's semi-final of The Bachelorette.

And after chatting to the Queensland native, Be discovered that his mum took it pretty badly too.

“My family were obviously invested in the relationship that Georgia and I had,” Jake tells Be. “Mum bawled her eyes out, she cried and a few others in my family did the same.

“But they just told me that they were proud of me and impressed with how I held myself and that means a lot.”

Great. Now we're all crying!

In fact, the 30-year-old, who had an instant connection with the Tassie-based journalist on the reality series, still seemed a bit emotionally raw when we spoke to him...and it's been months since filming ended!

“Everything I shared with Georgia is very real for me,” he tells Be. “If it wasn’t then I wouldn’t have given myself the chance to be that lucky one at the end.

“To be honest I was pretty heartbroken and devastated that I wasn’t that last one, so re-watching it on national TV was a difficult thing to do after what was essentially a breakup.”

He adds: “It was quite difficult because I was quite happy going into that rose ceremony after having amazing moments together and tackling some relationship topics.

“Honestly I was a bit shocked that I did get sent home but there’s two other great guys and I’ve got to respect that she was thinking about my family when it came down to making that final decision.”

Georgia broke down as she said goodbye to Jake during last night's emotional episode.

The brunette beauty admitted that she couldn’t take Jake away from his sick mum in the Gold Coast, as she will be based in Melbourne for the foreseeable future to be with her mum Belinda, as she battles pancreatic cancer.

“You’re amazing and you’ve made me feel amazing and I can never, ever, ever, underestimate that,” she told Jake after she didn’t pick him.

“Meeting your family meant so much to me. And to take you away from your family when I know what you're going through I would want to be 100% certain. And that's really hard to say.”

And while Jake looked like he’d been hit by a truck, he seemed to understand where she was coming from.

“It’s hard to hear that,” he told her, before adding: “Look after your family and I hope you find the love you're after, that you're looking for. And that's really hard just for me to say right now. It really is.”

Later on, Jake told the cameras that he didn’t think there was any more he could’ve done.

“That hurts. That sucks. I don't like goodbyes. And, yeah, it was a goodbye. It wasn't a "I'll see you soon". Yeah, that's the end of that,” he said sadly.

“I really showed Georgia the true me and really wore my heart on my sleeve for the first time in quite a long time. I'm not sure what to think or feel and I'm sure it's going hit me like a freight train soon.”

Speaking to Be this morning, Jake adds: "I'll always cherish what we had."
