Daily Edition's Sally Obermeder starts maternity leave early
Sally Obermeder will host her last Daily Edition show on Friday to embark on her maternity leave two weeks early to be with her surrogate and future child based in the US.
In a recent interview, the TV presenter told The Daily Telegraph she underestimated the amount of planning involved in having a baby overseas.
“I'm going a little earlier because I'm finding there is a lot of stuff to organise,” the 43-year-old said.

“The logistics of having a birth in another country, organising formula, prams and to get everything organised and sorted has been more than I initially thought,” she added.
The brunette beauty confirmed on Instagram in August that she was expecting her second child with husband Marcus via a surrogate in the US.
The Channel 7 presenter who has been co-hosting the show with Tom Williams since 2013, shared an image of herself, Marcus and their five-year-old daughter Annabelle holding a sign announcing the news that reads “I'm going to be a big sister.”
In 2011, Sally was unfortunately diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, and according to New Idea, the doctors told the mum-of-one that giving birth to a second child could risk her life.
“I've been told in no uncertain terms that it's far too dangerous for me to be pregnant again, in terms of the cancer returning," she told the magazine.
“I acknowledge that I'm extremely lucky to have one child... But the yearning and desire to be a mum again is so strong and it has not passed," she said.
“Before I was sick I always pictured I would have two or three children, if I was lucky enough, and I still want that for Annabelle.”
Sally Cumming will be stepping into Sally's shoes until she comes back from her mat leave next year.
