Michael Douglas claims Val Kilmer is battling tongue cancer

Val Kilmer has denied reports he is battling cancer numerous times in the past, despite reportedly being in and out of hospital with throat problems over the past two years.

But now, his friend and fellow actor Michael Douglas is allegedly claiming for the first time that not only is Val battling tongue cancer, but that things "don’t look too good” for the Batman Forever star, The Sun reports.

The 72-year-old actor is said to have revealed the news during a Q&A with Jonathon Ross at An Evening With Michael Douglas at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Sunday, while speaking about working with Val on a film in 1995.

“The picture [The Ghost in the Darkness] didn’t turn out as well as I hoped but I had a wonderful time,” he said.

“Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don’t look too good for him.

“My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately.”

Meanwhile, Val, 56, has been denying that he has had cancer, since he was hospitalised in 2015 for throat problems.

“I am perfectly well folks,” he wrote to Facebook at the time. “Thank you for all your love and support.

“I am having a grand time. And I should mention I do not have cancer or a tumor. (sic).”

A few months later, the star further denied reports that he was unwell, even after he was seen with a tracheostomy tube in his neck.

Then in January, the actor took to Facebook to debunk a report by Radar Online that was claiming he was admitted into UCLA’s intensive care unit.

He wrote: “There’s a rumor I’m unwell again and in hospital which is totally untrue.”

Michael, who previously stated that he had throat cancer, underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment, announcing in 2011 that his cancer was in remission.

But in 2013, the actor said he had actually been battling with tongue cancer, but had been told by his doctor not to clarify that detail due to the potential for disfigurement.
