Kim Kardashian fires bodyguard a month after Paris robbery

Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have reportedly fired longtime bodyguard Pascal Duvier, the man who was in charge of protecting the reality star the night she was held up at gunpoint.

Sources tell Entertainment Tonight that the couple made the "tough decision" to let Pascal go a month after the attack. He first started working for Kanye in 2012.

"Pascal, along with a couple other security members of their team, were recently let go by Kim and Kanye," the source told the news outlet.

"It's a pretty tough situation overall and they love Pascal, but they couldn't take any more chances."

The move to part ways with the 43-year-old comes as a shock, with both Kim and Kanye showing support for him in the days after the attack.

However Pascal has been vocal on Twitter and has been forced to defend his actions when questioned why he left Kim home alone without any security shortly before she was attacked.

Kim was the target of a terrifying attack in early October, when a group of armed robbers forced their way into her luxury Paris apartment and stole $11 million worth of jewels, including her engagement ring, and leaving the star traumatised after being held at gunpoint and left bound and gagged in the bathroom.

Pascal was at a nearby nightclub protecting Kim's sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner at the time of the attack, however rushed back to Kim's side shortly afterwards.

The 43-year-old was seen protecting the high-profile couple upon their return to New York City after the robbery, however sources claim Kanye had become "increasingly concerned" about the safety of his wife and their two young child, daughter North and son Saint.

"Kim and Kanye are reassessing their security detail now. Kanye is freaking out - this really threw him for a loop," the source added.

Since the ordeal Kim has rarely been seen in public, keeping a low profile and not posting to any of her once very active social media accounts.

TMZ reports Kim attended an intimate family dinner on Wednesday night to celebrate Kendall's 21st birthday, bringing along three off-duty police officers as protection in addition to the personal security guards each of the famous Kardashian-Jenner sister's had.
