NEW INTERVIEW: 'I'm a game-changer' reveals Harry's girl Meghan

Last night Prince Harry left jaws on the floor by taking the unprecedented step of publicly confirming his relationship with Meghan Markle.

And now the actress has spoken out in a new interview, shared exclusively with Be, in which she shares her secrets to success and describes herself as an “ambitious game changer with good taste in shoes”.

Speaking to author Samantha Brett and co-author Steph Adams for their book The Game Changers: Success Secrets From 40 Women At The Top: How To Become A Fearless, Fabulous Girl Boss, the 35-year-old actress – who is a UN Women Advocate and World Vision Ambassador - proves she's no airhead, giving her insights on everything from career and charity work through to how women can have it all.

Meghan was born to a clinical therapist mother and television lighting director father. Growing up in Los Angeles, her parents split when she was just six years old. At the age of 11, she famously penned a letter to then-first lady Hilary Clinton, contesting a controversial soap ad.

She went on to study at Northwestern University in Illinois, and is known for her humanitarian work as well as being a household name on American TV. Meghan is famed for her role as Rachel Zane on legal drama Suits, having starred on the program since its first season in July 2011.

Earlier this year she made a trip Rwanda to volunteer at a refugee camp, and is proud of her mixed heritage, her mother being African American and her father being Caucasian.

Here's just some of her awesome pearls of wisdom:

1. On a being a game changer

“Make sure you are safe and never ever put yourself in a compromising situation, but once that is checked off the list, I think it’s really important for us to remember that someone needs us, and that your act of giving/helping/doing can truly become an act of grace once you get out of your head.”

2. On her Suits character Rachel vs Meghan in real life

"We are both strong willed and driven, as well as being layered and sensitive… The difference between the two of us is that she certainly cries a lot more than I do, but for good reason. Her life is a tad more dramatic than mine, so I certainly can’t judge. What we have in common? Our ambition and our taste in shoes.”

3. On being a UN Women Advocate and World Vision Ambassador

“Using my hiatus between filming to focus on passion-driven projects and humanitarian work is incredibly high value to me, and to be honest - I’m just really humbled that these organisations entrust me to represent their messaging.”

4. On fitting everything in

“I am self-sufficient and a go-getter, so often times I have to remind myself to take a moment to just breathe. My brain is always going, but at the end of the day because it is all stuff that I am passionate about, it’s easier to not feel exhausted as I squeeze it all in.”

5. On founding her website The Tig

“When you spend so much time as an actor saying other people’s words for a living, it was really important to me to find a space where I could say my own words… There’s that great quote that I use as a catalyst for my thinking when crafting much of the content on ‘The Tig’: “Girls with dreams become women with vision.”
