Ruby Rose and Jessica Origliasso waste no time stripping down and getting up close and personal in The Veronicas' new music video for track On Your Side.

From slipping in between the sheets to sharing a bath together, the pair, who recently rekindled their romance prove why this clip is just a little too hot to handle.

The video, written and directed by Ruby, opens with the actress and her single girlfriend walking towards each other, sharing a cuddle before things take a steamier turn.

Stripping down to their back lingerie, the pair share a passionate kiss in a bedroom scene, before splashing about in a pool and passionately locking lips yet again.

This video was responsible for reigniting the flame between the exes, and shows the pair getting up close and personal, looking at a "love that cannot be broken" despite one of the girls' characters battling a drug addiction.

No doubt stoked to be working with her girl on the project, Jess said in a statement: "Ruby Rose is known for creating powerful and intensely affecting work and being given the opportunity to collaborate with her artistic force has been an incredible experience, both personally and professionally".

“Lisa and I have always been drawn to unconventional and honest story telling through our music; Ruby brought this to the forefront in our video for 'On Your Side'.

Meanwhile Ruby said: “When I first heard the song I was drawn to the lyrics. Some songs tell the first chapter of a story others only tell the last but here I was listening to a full narrative of someone’s sincere experience with love. It stood out to me and like any great narrative you wanted to know what was going to happen next.

“Some months later when the girls spoke about making a video it occurred to me they had never done an entirely narrative based video. One without the use of singing to camera.

“I felt compelled to write a short film for it and see what they thought."

The lyrics reflect passion, with one verse reading: "I remember the night when you packed all your bags in the doorway... Said, I don't wanna fight, you can leave, but remember I'm always on your side".

Jess let slip recently that she fell back in love with her ex while filming the clip in New Zealand. And after watching the footage we can see why.

"It's me. Me and Ruby Rose," she gushed to Nova FM's Kent 'Smallzy' Small. "And it is our love story in this video.

"It's about the dynamic, the highs and the lows of people in love, in a relationship."

The pair, who ended their on-again-off-again relationship in 2008, have remained buds ever since they decided to split.

"We have been friends for eight years," Jess said. "A really long time and it was just honestly the craziest thing.

"We just reconnected over doing this video, she wrote and directed it, and is in it with us and we just sort of fell in love."

While their original relationship ended nearly a decade ago ago, Jess said Ruby has a very long memory.

"She reminds me exactly how much last time definitely happened. She doesn't let me forget anything," she revealed.

"I don't know, it's just a crazy thing when you care about someone for so long and then you have the chance to be able to reconnect.

"And we've grown up a lot, we met very early on and we were very different people."

Earlier this week, Ruby dropped a teaser for the clip of Jess and Lisa in rehearsal.

"Exclusive FIRST look at ON YOUR SIDE," she captioned the clip. "What people don't know is that this video and song is about the girls arms.

"Singing to them that they are in fact on your side no matter how much you try to shake them off."

Well, that's a bit cute.

And if the chemistry looks off the hook in the clip it's because it was literally happening in real time.

“It was a little confronting,” Jess told News Corp. “Ruby and I laugh about how people will be seeing us (falling back in love) in real time, now immortalised forever in this video.

“The universe absolutely conspired for this meeting. There was such explicit chemistry between Ruby and I that shooting was very intense. We got to know each other on a deeper level.”

Indeed, it was probably a total coincidence that the very busy Ruby was available at all for the shoot.

Between shooting action films and TV shows all over the planet, Ruby is one busy bee!

Coincidentally, the 30-year-old former MTV VJ was living in Auckland at the time to shoot her latest role in upcoming shark flick MEG, alongside Jason Statham.

Yep, with their crazy conflicting schedules, it was pure fate that the pair were on the same side of the planet to reunite in the first place.

And it seems like it wasn't just fate, but perfect timing that was responsible for the sparks.

Jess said: “Having come together again at a time where we’re both very independent in ourselves and at a very beautiful place in our lives individually we got to really get to know each other in a new way, in a way we hadn’t had a chance to connect previously.”

She also couldn’t stop gushing about her girlfriend to Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on their KIIS FM show.

"She's incredible, she's such an incredible woman," she said. "I feel so proud to be with someone like her, who is so ambitious and compassionate."

Talking about how they got back together, Jess - who admits she keeps in touch with all of her exes, explained how they hit it off while playing warring lovers in her band's latest track.

“It’s a love story between her character and mine. It’s the highs and lows of a relationship and the dynamics that happen when you fall in love with somebody and dealing with addiction and other things. It’s pretty raw.”

And Lisa says she couldn’t be happier for her twin.

“I am definitely in tune with Jess, if she is happy I am happy,” Lisa said, before Jess added, “I am very lucky.”
