Selena Gomez makes post-rehab red carpet return

It’s been almost three months since Selena Gomez took the brave decision to cancel her Revival world tour and head to rehab in Nashville.

And now the 24-year-old is back looking happier and healthier than ever, making her return to the red carpet at the American Music Awards in LA.

Thankfully, she was spared an awkward run-in with her ex Justin Bieber, who performed via satellite from Switzerland, where he’s currently on his own world tour.

Wearing a floor-length red Prada dress and happily stopping to snap selfies with fans, the singer appeared to be a world away from the girl who axed the 34 remaining dates of her tour to seek help for “mental health issues”.

“Selena is dealing with lupus, but this break is to focus on her mental health,” a source claimed at the time. “She can go to a very dark place.”

Confirming her break back in August, Selena told People magazine, “As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus… I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off… I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best.”

It’s not the first time Selena has sought professional help.

In 2014 the former Disney Channel star checked into rehab in Arizona, with a source claiming she was “exhausted”, “broken-hearted” and had been “partying very hard.”
