'My anger knows no bounds': Lisa 'disgusted' by Karl gossip

They’re "work husband and wife", and now Lisa Wilkinson has come out swinging for her co-host Karl Stefanovic, slamming speculation about his split from Cassandra Thorburn.

The 56-year-old journalist has taken aim at gossip about Karl, Cassandra and the couple's three children, saying she is “angry” and “disgusted” because “there are human beings involved here”.

“My anger knows no bounds over that and I feel very protective towards the people involved," she said in a new interview, given to Mamamia.

Since news of Karl and Cass’ split emerged in September, various rumours have circulated speculating on the reasons behind the breakdown of the 21-year marriage.

New Idea reported this week that Karl, 42, is smitten with 27-year-old food blogger Sofia Levin, who he met when she appeared on the Today show.

However, with Sofia engaged to her long-term boyfriend, the report went on to suggest that he just wants to meet someone who can “make him smile".
