Erin McNaught's miscarriage sadness

Australian model Erin McNaught has revealed she suffered a miscarriage just last month.

Appearing on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show on Tuesday, the 34-year-old revealed she and husband Elliott ‘Example’ Gleave had been expecting a second child, after welcoming son Evander back in December 2014.

Describing the experience as “heartbreaking”, the former Miss Universe Australia said “it is just one of those things that unfortunately is really, really common”.

Erin made the candid admission when hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies asked about her and Example's plans to expand their brood.

"We definitely want another baby. I sadly had a miscarriage last month, which is, we're totally fine, it is just one of those things that unfortunately is really, really common," she said.

Doing her best to look at the positives, she continued: "I'm in the really, really lucky position of already having a son, and loads of women out there who have had so many miscarriages, and they don't have a child.

"And it is heartbreaking, and for me, I found solace in knowing how common it was, because once I got talking, you realise just how many people are affected by it.

"And if I could find solace in that, and I think if more people spoke about it, then it might not be as tough for people to go through it. Still, it is always going to be horrible, it can make it a bit easier by talking about."

After tying the knot back in 2013, Erin and Example welcomed son Evander in December 2014.

The pair, who actually met in 2011 when Erin interviewed the rapper for a MTV interview, are now based abroad, with Erin taking a break from the runway to focus on motherhood.

"We have an amazing life. We are very lucky," she said later in the interview.

And gushing about her little boy, she added: "He has the best little Aussie accent."

Opening up about motherhood earlier this year, Erin told The Daily Telegraph: "As soon as you have a baby, you can clearly see the things that you have in your life that you are grateful for".

"It makes you reassess your priorities."
