Scott Eastwood busted for Aussie danger dive
Hollywood actor Scott Eastwood could be fined for jumping off a Sydney cliff, after a man lost his life doing the very same thing on Christmas Day.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service has confirmed to Be that it is "reviewing the incident", in which 30-year-old Scott plunged from rocks approximately nine metres high at Wattamolla lagoon in the Royal National Park.
"NPWS will review this incident and decide what actions, if any, are required," a NPWS spokesperson told Be.
"Just wait for it...... #Australia (sic)," the movie sensation captioned the brief clip shared on his Instagram account this week.
A park employee told The Daily Telegraph that anyone caught jumping off the cliff would face a $300 fine, with clear signage surrounding the area making it clear the act is illegal. "There was a chap killed there a fortnight ago."
A National Parks and Wildlife Service spokesperson told Be: "Jumping off Wattamolla Falls is not safe and the NPWS has put a range of measures in place to manage public safety".
"These include advising visitors of the risk through signage and safety barriers at the site. Unfortunately some individuals put themselves at risk of injury by disregarding warning signs, jumping over barriers and not keeping to formed paths."
Last month a 27-year-old man lost his life after plunging off the rocks at the same location in Sydney's south.
He was with friends at the time but never emerged following the dive. Emergency services were called once friends found the man's body, but he didn't survive.
Be has contacted NPWS for further comment.
Scott is currently in Australia filming his new movie Pacific Rim: Maelstrom.
