MKR's Bek: ‘Our romance was real’

MKR fans were left devastated last night when Perth besties Bek and Ash were eliminated from the competition in a high-pressure sudden death cook-off with Sydney’s David and Betty.

But it’s not Bek and Ash’s cooking skills that viewers are going to miss – it’s the hot romance blossoming between Bek and Adelaide contestant Kyle!

The pair, who are both 27, kicked off their flirtation in the very first episode, with vet Bek instantly clocking the tall and bearded bartender.

Their fellow MKR contestants were into it too, and even Manu and Pete cheered Bek and Kyle on as they shared a sweet kiss at the table.

But with Kyle downplaying the romance in an interview with Who, calling it “all fun for me”, Be got Bek on the line to see what she had to say!

“It was real,” Bek tells Be of the TV romance. “We did have a really good connection and there was a lot of flirting going on. We spent a lot of time with each other.”

“Kyle is my type,” she reveals. “[I like] someone with a good sense of humour and someone who is very caring.” With Kyle even shedding a tear when the gals were eliminated, he’s clearly got a big heart!

For fans who are hoping that their connection has led to something more serious, you’ll be as sad as Be was to learn that they’re in the friend zone. “We’ve struck up a good friendship and it was nice to take that away from it,” Bek says of Kyle. “We keep in contact, but there’s no more flirtation. We’re just friends now!”

Kyle may not have scored a girlfriend out of the show, but he and his teammate Tim could bag the $250,000 prize money.

“The boys have got a bloody good chance,” Bek tells Be when we asked her to pick a winner. “Their food is amazing. I love Amy and Tyson as well, in terms of pushing the boundaries.”

As for her and Ash’s elimination, it still hurts. “It was all Colin’s fault,” she laughs. “[The judges] said better stuff to us and we thought ‘We’ve got this’ and then it was like ‘Oh no, we don’t got this at all.’”

My Kitchen Rules airs at 7.30pm on Channel Seven.
