Hugh Jackman's cancer returns

Hugh Jackman has urged fans to protect their skin and wear sunscreen after having another cancerous cell removed from his nose.

The 48-year-old took to Instagram to spread his message, sharing a photo of his heavily bandaged nose, adding the dressing makes it look "worse" than it actually is.

"Another basal cell carcinoma. Thanks to frequent body checks and amazing doctors, all is well. Looks worse with the dressing on than off. I swear! #wearsunscreen," Hugh captioned the snap.

On Valentine's Day the Australian actor was spotted out and out in New York walking his dogs with his nose still protected by the bandaging.

It's the sixth time the father-of-two has had treatment for the cancerous cell, after he first got a small spot on his nose checked out in 2013, at the request of his wife of 20 years, Deborra-Lee Furness.

“Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basil (sic) cell carcinoma. Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!" Hugh tweeted at the time of the initial discovery.

Basal cell carcinoma is a mild form of cancer, and while still serious, it is typically not as dangerous as melanoma.

Hugh has since then shared numerous photos of his bandaged nose following surgical procedures to remove them, always promoting the importance of sun safety to all his followers.

The Logan star has previously revealed he had four skin cancers removed in an 18 month time period, with doctors warning him it was likely more would follow in the future.

He had another procedure to remove a fifth cell shortly afterwards.

During an interview in 2014 the father-of-two said while he was staying positive about his health, he undergoes regular check-ups to ensure the situation doesn't get anymore serious.

"I'm realistic about the future and it's more than likely that I'll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie particularly from English stock growing up in Australia where I don't remember ever being told to put sunscreen on," he said at the time.

"The beauty of this is it's all preventable. It's just about getting proper check-ups. I can be a typical man, I couldn't be bothered, and now I'm not lazy at all."
