She’s always insisted on being her own publicist, but after winding up as the villain in her divorce from Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie has reportedly decided that it’s time to rethink her strategy.
Following their shock September split and subsequent mud-slinging, the 41-year-old actress is planning a major image overhaul, Page Six reports.
After admitting to Hollywood Reporter in 2014: “I had [a publicist] once, years ago . . . I didn’t like it,” Ange has sought support from a range of political advisers instead.
These reportedly include Washington, DC, crisis specialist Judy Smith, UK House of Lords member Lady Arminka Helic, former adviser to Britain’s ex-Foreign Secretary William Hague, as well as fellow former Hague aide Chloe Dalton.
Each has helped the United Nations High Commissioner in their own way over the years.
Page Six also reports Ange has even asked her former manager Geyer Kosinski to hop back onboard, despite splitting from him in 2013.
Ange seeking a PR rep also comes in the wake of her upcoming film First They Killed My Father, an insider says, which is based on a Cambodian human rights activist's memoir.
“She’s got a film coming out on Cambodia and will be doing promotion around that,” they said, alluding to her needing help to promote the movie she’s directing as well as control her reputation amid the split.
And while she’s one of the most recognised Hollywood stars, the mag reports no top publicists have put their hand up for the role.
Ange seeking a publicist comes after reports claiming Brad refuses to pay child support to his estranged wife.
The 53-year-old Ocean’s Eleven actor is seeking joint custody of the couple’s six children – Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8. While Ange is fighting for sole custody.
Insiders claim Ange is asking for $131,000 a month in child support, telling InTouch: “This will pay for all of the kids’ expenses as well as set up a trust fund for each child.”
The source reveals that $330,000 would be set aside each year and put in the kids’ trust, to be capped at $6.5 million.
But Brad’s not having any of it, as the source claims the star has “no issue taking care of the kids, but he won’t pay her child support”, as he doesn’t want his ex having control of the funds – he’d rather put it all into the trust instead.
With Angelina worth a cool $210 million, it’s hardly like she needs the cash herself. Nor would Brad miss it – his fortune is estimated at a whopping $330 million.
Ange wants the divorce settled in 90 days – but with the exes locked in a constant battle, we don’t like her chances!
