Karl’s ex targeted by vandals

She’s already dealing with the breakdown of her 21-year marriage and her ex-husband seemingly moving on with a young model, and now Cassandra Thorburn has been dealt another blow.

New Idea reports that the 44-year-old mum of three’s car has been defaced by particularly nasty trolls.

The publication has obtained photos of a car belonging to Cassandra with the words “I wake up with Karl” scrawled on the back windscreen.

Clearly a nod to the catchphrase of her ex’s hit TV show, “I wake up with Today”, the “cruel joke” has been slammed by Cass’ neighbours.

“It was very confronting,” a source who lives on the same street tells New Idea. “I feel so sorry for Cassandra. You’re supposed to feel safe where you live.”

“It seems really calculated and premeditated,” the insider continues. “They knew she wasn’t home [when they did it].”

The neighbour told the publication that they noticed the graffiti in the early afternoon and a few hours later it had been removed.

Former ABC journalist Cassandra had led a low-profile life until her split with Karl, her husband of 21 years, made headlines.

In the wake of constant paparazzi and media scrutiny, she’s had to enlist celebrity agent Max Markson to help her handle the increased attention.

Karl has reportedly told Cass about his new relationship with Brisbane born, LA-based model Jasmine Yarbrough, 33.

"That was a big step for Karl," a source tells Woman's Day. "It's really tough for Cass, she's worried about the future and what this new relationship might mean for her."
