Who’s the belle of the ball? Fairy tale glam at Oscars 2017

It may not be nominated for any Oscars - or even in cinemas yet - but it seems the live action Beauty and the Beast remake is having a massive impact on red carpet style.

As Tinseltown’s best and brightest filed into the Hollywood and Highland Center, dramatic gowns with full skirts were the order of the day.

There was no doubt as to who Leslie Mann was channelling when she stepped out in a strapless gold gown complete with a bustled skirt and bow detail at the bust.

Ginnifer Goodwin, Kirsten Dunst and Octavia Spencer also followed the trend but went for more structured designs, while Scarlett Johansson slipped into a floaty pink number cinched in at the waist with a metallic belt.

La La Land star Emma Stone sashayed down the red carpet in something a little less poofy, but stuck to Belle's iconic golden hue in a gorgeously detailed dress that could easily have stepped out of The Great Gatsby.

Australia's own Nicole Kidman also opted for a metallic design, as did Jessica Biel and Dakota Johnson.

They were joined by TV presenters Nancy O’Dell and Zuri Hall who kicked things off in dressed with dramatic trains.
