The 28-year-old rapper, who played a charity football game with Harry last year, says the “lovely and very real” Prince should be able to date whoever he desires, regardless of colour or race.

“It’s 2017. Everyone should be able to go out with whoever they want from wherever in the world,” he tells Be, adding he's only just learnt of the couple’s romance, and has watched Suits “once”.

England-based Tinie (real name Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu Jr.), who is proud of his Nigerian roots, adds: “I’m from England. I don’t see why you couldn’t be with someone from anywhere, as long as the person is adding something to you really, that’s all I say”.

In fact the chart-topping artist, who has collaborated with the likes of Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding, says his most recent music is based on that very notion.

“That’s kind of what my song Text From Your Ex is about,” he says, referring to his hit featuring Tinashe.

“It’s literally about the fact that especially with social media at the moment and everybody sliding into everybody’s DM's [direct messages] and what not – and that’s all well and good and everyone is having fun – but you need to make sure you go for someone who’s got a bit of substance as a person.”

Tinie became acquainted with Prince Harry at a charity football game last year, and the Royal made quite the impression on the musician.

"He's a lovely, lovely person... very real," Tinie tells Be.

"It was good and a great experience. How many people can say that they’ve played a football game with someone like that?"

Meanwhile when Prince Harry confirmed his relationship with Meghan last November, Kensington Palace issued a statement, in which Prince Harry hit back at the 'racial' backlash his girlfriend, whose father is Caucasian and mum African American, had faced.

Part of the statement read: "His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments".

Tinie has been in Australia promoting his upcoming album Youth.

While Down Under, the star has soaked up the Australian culture, and says he’s just single and “having fun”.

“I think Aussie girls are beautiful, and to be honest, I look for someone who’s got ambition,” he says.

Featuring his 2016 singles Girls Like (ft. Zara Larsson), Mamacita ft. Wizkid, and aforementioned track Text From Your Ex ft. Tinashe, Tinie’s album Youth is set for a March 31 release.
