Waleed Aly and wife Susan: 'We're not a Muslim power couple'
He's a Gold Logie winning television presenter and she's an esteemed academic and social commentator. But despite their success, Waleed Aly and wife Susan Carland see themselves as just any other married couple.
Speaking to Be at the 2017 TV Week Logie Awards in Melbourne on Sunday night, Susan dismissed the idea she and Waleed are "Australia's Muslim power couple".
"That’s just so... I don’t even know what to do with that," she reveals to Be of her reaction when people put that label on her relationship.
"We’re not powerful. We’ve got two kids and run our house and we forget to put out the rubbish, that’s who we are."
The couple was the talk of the red carpet as they arrived together for TV’s night of nights where Waleed was presented with the Logie award for Best Presenter.
However before they hit the red carpet, Susan posted a hilarious snap to her Instagram account, showing her impatient husband checking his watch as she posed for photos.
“Here I come!” Susan captioned the photo , which has already been liked over 2,000 times.
The stunning doctor wore a beautiful dress by Melbourne-based designer AY Couture which featured long lace sleeves and an incredible billowing train.
Waleed, who was nominated for his second Gold Logie for his presenting role on The Project, looked dapper in a crisp black tux and bow tie.

The couple’s appearance at the Logies comes just days after it was revealed that the pair has splashed out on a $2 million home in Melbourne’s wealthy Richmond area.
